Where to Go with Your Dog in December

Tis the season to… take your dog on fun Christmas outings of course! It’s cold (and mostly wet) outside, but your doggie doesn’t mind too much. He or she still wants to go out exploring your neighbourhood and beyond with you.

Here are some ideas for what you can do with your dog in December…

1 December – Catwalks Pets Christmas Party

The Catwalks Pets Christmas Party takes place at the retailer’s Essex shop on Barkingside High Street on 1 December. The event promises lots of festive activities for families to enjoy, and the party runs from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

2 December – The Jurassic Bark Birthday/ Christmas Pack Walk

Do you fancy taking your dog for a pack walk and meeting other dog owners at the same time? The Jurassic Bark Birthday/ Christmas Pack Walk offers dog socialisation and a whole lot of fresh air when we need it the most. The walk takes place on 2 December at Snelsmore Common, Berkshire. (Meet in the car park at 1pm). The walk raises money on behalf of WECare Worldwide and its work with dogs in Sri Lanka.

Dog Trust Christmas Fair

Local branches of the Dogs Trust are running their own Christmas Fairs from late November through early December. To find the nearest one to you, check out the Dogs Trust website here. On the day, you can expect Santa Paws, Christmas gifts and craft stalls, The Barkery, Dogs Trust merchandise, tombolas and a raffle, festive goodies and refreshments.

3 December – Starletts Winter Walkies

If you’re in London, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to the Winter Wonderland. Our favourite is the Starletts Winter Walkies on Sunday 3 December. You’ll set off from Buckingham Palace (of all places) and end up at the dog-friendly café, We Are Squirrel, in Kensington. The walk starts at 1.30pm from the Green Park entrance, and the dress code is festive so dig out those cute little Santa jackets and hats.

Winter Walkies

Outside of London and in the Bristol area, the Tyntesfield Estate opens for winter walkies for National Trust members from October to February. The dogs are welcome on most of the estate, excluding the historic buildings, the shop and café, and the Walled Garden.

10 December – The Santa Paws Christmas Fair and Grotto

The Santa Paws Christmas Fair and Grotto on behalf of the re-homing charity, All Dogs Matter, takes place on 10 December from 12-3pm at The Garden Gate, South End Green, Hampstead. Stalls will have Christmas gifts for dogs and owners, and you can enjoy mulled wine, mince pies and music. Stallholders include Arbonne UK, ByBenji, Elite Hound, Nowzad, Sketch London and The Artisan Pet Deli.
