Dying Dog Without Ears Gets a Second Chance

Four years ago police in Arizona found an abandoned dog wandering the streets of Phoenix. She was all swollen, emaciated, covered in thicks, she had her ears bitten off and smelled really, really badly. The police officer caught the dog and took her to Mayday Pit Bull Rescue. While the rescue group couldn’t take the dog themselves, they contacted Jeannette Goldsberry and her husband, and asked if they would foster her. Luckily, she said yes and later that day her husband went to pick her up. The dog went several treatments at the vet and the doctors didn't think she'd make it. Goldsberry called her Calista which means "most beautiful". Beating all odds, Calista survived her first night, then another, then the week. After a week, she went to her foster home with the Goldsberry…

Golden Retriever is Obsessed with Baby Goats

Loryn the golden retriever and her mum Andrea Holley live on a farm in Kansas, US. Whenever a new animal comes to the farm, Loryn is super curious and friendly, and welcomes them as her new brothers and sisters. Recently, Holley's farm took in four rescued baby goats — and Loryn fell in love more than she ever has before. She's following them everywhere, giving the cuddles and kisses all the time, share the sofa with them and makes she's always around. She's adopted them as her own, and she takes her role as their mother very seriously. Being really sweet and loving animals, the goats love her back as she much as she loves them. "Loryn is my right-hand man and always helps corral the babies when we're outside or round them up while playing inside," her mum, Holley said. "She …

This Stray Dog Just Became a Member of a St Francis Monastery

You could see dogs serving as companions, squirrel chasers, cooks, baby sitters... So how about a dog who enjoys his life being a monk? Meet Friar Bigotón (Friar Moustache), the stray doggie who became a member of a St Francis Monastery in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The saint after which the Franciscan order was established is known as the patron of animals, so the monks felt it was necessary to have a "brother" who's not human. They adopted the dog and made him on of them, all the brothers love him so much, so the doggies spend his days being spoiled, playing and running all day. Friar Bigotón even wears his won frock and attend his monk duties.  “[Here’s] Brother Carmelo preaching to the fish,” wrote Franciscan Kasper Mariusz Kapro?, who first posted these adorable photos online …

Rescue Dogs Will Replace Ball Boys at Brazil Open

Who's better at chasing tennis balls than dogs? No one! Brazil Open organisers know this very well and they'll be replacing the usual "ball boys" with their canine versions for a second year in a row. The dogs won't be there for spectaculars' entertainment, but they'll have the serious task to run and collect the balls used by the professional tennis players. This is not only fun, but amazing way to raise awareness for rescue dogs and what wonderful animals they're. All dogs that will participate in the tournament will be up for adoption.   "No matter their origin or age, when they are loved and fed properly [rescued dogs] can be wonderful companions. [They can] play, learn new things and accomplish great deeds, " organiser Madalena Spinazzola said in a release. "They are dog…

School Sports Team Invites Shelter Dogs To Run With Them

Kids need to run, so do dogs. One high school from California came with the brilliant idea to invite shelter dogs to run with their cross country team during their morning practices. St. Joseph High School’s cross country team went to the County Animal Shelter in Santa Maria  for their first ever “Dog Run.” Coach Luis Escobar posted on Facebook: “This morning me and the St. Joseph High School Cross Country Team conducted our workout at the County Animal Shelter in Santa Maria. With the help of Stacy Silva we successfully completed the first ever team Dog Run! Each team member was assigned a dog and we went out for a couple miles around the shelter. I am not sure who was more excited and having the most fun…the dogs or the kids. Either way, it was a great time and I am sure we will do…

Homeless Man Final Wish Is A Home For His Dog

Clifford James Herbert, a homeless man from California dying from terminal cancer, has been made happy by seeing his beloved dog Baby adopted by a caring family. The story of Cliff and Baby made the headlines when Jenine-Lacette DShazer noticed the pair cuddling together on a chilly California sidewalk. DShazer grabbed what she could find from her car – a blanket, some food and toilet paper – and offered it to the man. The man then opened and shared his story. 60-year-old Herbert told her that he is a former farm worker who had once owned his own mechanic shop, but after heart surgery and an emergency tracheotomy in 2006, he became disabled and eventually lost his job. The only thing he had left was his beautiful dog, Baby. He rescued her from a man who beat her with a flashlight…

People of Istanbul Saving Stray Dogs

In Istanbul, Turkey, heavy snowfall and extremely low temperatures froze the city in recent days. People have been struggling to move around the city, but some citizens were more concerned about the safety of the stray dogs rather than their morning commute. Stories are emerging about people going above and beyond to help keep homeless dogs cozy and safe, laying cardboards and bringing food and blankets for the poor animals. Asked to show on camera what they're doing, most people refused to show their faces and said they're doing it for the animals not to gain social media popularity. Some shops even let dogs to spend the night inside, as the weather was so cold that it was life-threatening  to leave them outside. The photos went viral and we're hoping that they'll ins…
