Former Shelter Dog Saves the Life of a Lost 3-year-old Girl

Delta Animal Shelter in Michigan recently received a touching letter from a couple who adopted an abused dog from them last year. It turns out, Peanut, formerly known as the struggling dog Petunia who arrived at the shelter last April with 2 broken legs, a belly full of carpet and broken ribs, has saved the life of a 3-years-old girl.

A few days ago Peanut alerted her dad that she wanted to go outside, she was running and braking frantically up and down the house. When he opened the door, she immediately took off at “full speed” into the field behind the house. There, the man found a naked 3-year-old girl, who was obviously freezing and in distress.

Officials then went door to door in an attempt to find the parents, and eventually located them in a nearby residence. The house had the worst conditions that inspectors had recently seen. Child Protective Services have assumed care of the 3-year-old girl and another child found inside the home.

Who knows what would have happened if Peanut hasn’t alerted her owners about the poor girl. Peanut family was so impressed with her heroic act that they send a letter to Delta Animal Shelter which you can below.
